Children of Uganda is excited to announce its upcoming Tour of Light for September, 2011. Hailed as “first rate,” “inspiring,” and “a celebration of dignity” by The New York Times, the tour has two primary goals:

  • to help financially support the 600 orphans and vulnerable children under the care of Children of Uganda (COU).
  • to advocate for the nearly 3 million Ugandan children orphaned by HIV/AIDS, as well as share the country's vibrant culture and history with American audiences.
solo dancerAs youth ambassadors, our children will perform and engage in cultural exchange programs at area schools, community centers, churches, and performance venues throughout the Eastern Seaboard, Chicago, San Antonio, and other select cities.

"Given sorrow, they have made beauty. With nothing more than sticks and drums and their own bare feet, they have made art." - Boston Globe

American students at participating schools will benefit from an in-depth cultural curriculum centered on Uganda's unique heritage. Our children will also learn valuable lessons about American culture as they travel the U.S. Together, they will unite in song and dance to better understand one another.
